Lovers of sport fishing come into their own in Dubí and its surroundings. On the southern edge of the Mstišov district you can test your fishing skills at several places. The ponds ČSM I and ČSM II boast crystal clear waters. There are many flooded bushes and trees along the banks, where you have a good chance of catching a nice bass or pike, or the oft-caught carp and grass carp. The only disadvantage is the difficult access to water and muddy shorelines. The pond at Mstišov deer-park is privately owned, so don't press your luck there.
Other fishing areas not far from Teplice are at the Modlany reservoir or the neighbouring Kateřina Lake. Modlany is a large, shallow pond especially suitable for spring fishing, offering up mainly carp, bream, roach and grass carp. After the summer season of predator hunting starts (16 June) you can try for a nice catfish here. The banks are freely accessible, even to disabled anglers, and you can park your car along the road by the pond. Kateřina is a vast fishing ground, where, at the inlet of the reservoir, you can fish for nice roach and small carp at the very start of the season. Throughout the year you can fish here for all the main species of fish, and this location is well-known for its frequent and nice catches. Except for designated no-fishing zones, the banks are freely accessible and there is good parking right at the fishery. The popular Barbora recreational area, with its nice stocking of fish, can be found between Teplice and Hrob. The fishing here is a bit trickier, but the result in the form of a good catch (carp, pike and perch) is the best reward.
