If you play golf in Cínovec you can assuredly call yourself a mountain golfer. The nine-hole course of Golf Club Teplice in Cínovec is the highest situated golf course in the Czech Republic. You can find it at the very crest of the Ore Mountains at an altitude of 870 metres, just a short walk from the Cínovec border crossing into Germany. The course is open from April to November with marvellous views of the countryside and the mountain climate lending a unique quality to the course. Though it is windy here throughout the season, you will rather appreciate it on hot summer days. Being on a plateau, the course's profile is relatively flat, but it is definitely not easy; the thick mountain grass around the fairways can prove to be especially tricky and so can the wetlands at holes 1 and 2. The player must be adaptable to the wind conditions and the more au naturel surface of the fairways. There are not many bunkers, but the smaller greens are quite guarded. To get a good score, you must be able to play with precision from difficult positions. Golf Club Teplice offers excellent facilities, including a restaurant with a spacious terrace and views of the Central Bohemian Uplands, a Pro shop, accommodation, as well as barbecue facilities for smaller events.
Another golf course - Golf Resort Barbora - is less than 5 km west of Teplice, in the direction of Duchcov. It is a standard nine-hole course par 36/72, and 2825/5650 metres long. While intended primarily for HCP players, it is open to the public during the morning. The wide fairways allow quick drop games, mercifully so to most players. The land is slightly undulating and doesn't pose significant physical barriers. The diverse foliage and gaiety of colours of the surrounding countryside only underscore the scenic, attractive character of the place.
